What People Are Saying

The EmberEarth Chronicles

I am a huge fan of epic fantasy and always look for new authors. Matthew Bunch has mixed all the elements of sword and sorcery I love; dragons, armies, magic, interesting and memorable characters, into a complex and far-reaching tale. My biggest complaint regarding the genre is over-simplification, the typical Good versus Evil mentality, and Matthew avoids such cliché and delivers a story peopled with characters who have many, sometimes conflicting, sides. The story centers on William, a boy from modern day, who is inadvertently sucked into another world and struggles to return home to a mother that desperately needs him. Wonderful read. Highly recommend. – Alex Velasquez – Amazon Verified Purchase

Dragons, wizards, monsters, dark mages, a quest to restore magic- The EmberEarth Chronicles is a fantasy lover’s dream. Matthew Bunch creates a world packed full of adventure and danger. I loved reading this. The characters are so strong and personal. This is a story for the adventurer at heart. This book is extremely complex and very well thought out. If I tried to explain everything that made The EmberEarth Chronicles great, this would be a very long review. -Katie Picou – Amazon Verified Purchase

When I come across a writer I had not read before and their writing knocks my socks off (as Mr. Bunch’s did, big-time!) I tend to gather everything I can that they have previously written and binge read. I was shocked to discover that this was Mr. Bunch’s first novel?! I felt that it had most certainly been written by and old, seasoned master (it’s that good!). I am now over-joyed to discover that his follow-up novel is now available! I shall quickly have it devoured and like a vampires blood thirst I will crave more. Mr. Bunch, please, just go write! -Joel Turnbow – Amazon Verified Purchase

Matthew Bunch continues the tales of EmberEarth in this second volume. Not as far-ranging, The Witch Named Heretic focuses on three main characters from the first book; Ems Fick, Billy Tate, and the orphan girl, Nesa. Ems knows a war with the Bloodletters is inevitable and works hard to arm herself.

The Bloodletters are aware of her efforts and kidnap her family, ordering her to cease her pursuits or see them assassinated one at a time. Ems leaves SeaEnd, traveling halfway around the world to speak with a long dead wizard about a magic item she discovered with Billy, which she believes is the key to her success.

Of course, little goes according to plan. I HIGHLY recommend this awesome book.  – Alex Velasquez – Amazon Verified Purchase
